Sustainable Travel

Better management of business travel is a key way to improve the sustainability of your organisation. In simple terms, there are two ways to improve the sustainability of travel:

  1. Avoid travel: by eliminating travel where there are practical business alternatives, such as a conference call. Avoiding travel is about minimising the need for staff to travel in order to deliver their business objectives. It is about changing working practices and putting in place a culture which supports not travelling.
  2. Travel differently: where travel is necessary adopt different travel behaviours. This could include changing modes of transport; using different vehicles or fuels; better travel planning; and/or changing behaviours such as driving style.
