CIPS Level 2

The CIPS level 2 introductory certificate in purchasing and supply covers the basic purchasing and supply issues, fundamental principles and processes. 

Four modules make up the CIPS Level 2 qualification

  1. Role and scope of purchasing
  2. Systems and procedures in purchasing (pre-course work required)
  3. Working with suppliers (pre-course work required)
  4. Importance of purchasing contracts (pre-course work required)

E-Test Exam

Candidates wishing to take an e-test exam need to register with CIPS direct.

E-test exams are to be taken at an approved CIPS assessment centre.  The e-test consists of forty multiple choice questions taken online.  Approximately two questions from each learning outcome, plus one question randomly selected from each learning outcome.  A pass is a score of seventy five percent or more.

Revision tips

We advise delegates who enrol on the programme to purchase the official CIPS course book, titled: Introductory certificate in purchasing and supply, available from the CIPS bookshop.

Cancellation Charges

These courses are offered at no cost to NHS delegates or trusts.  To enable Government Procurement Service to continue to offer NHS purchasing training at zero cost, a fee of £50.00 plus VAT will apply in the following circumstances:-

  • Cancellation of a delegate in the month prior to the training date.
  • Change of training date in the month prior to the booked training date.
  • Non attendance on the training day.

Please note any change or cancellation must be received on email to tft@gps.gsi.gov.uk

If a fee is incurred an invoice will be issued to the delegates manager within a month of the event date.  Please note failure to pay may prevent a delegate attending future training dates.
